Rockville, located in Montgomery County, Maryland is the state's second biggest incorporated city. Filled with rolling hills and impressive greenery along with high tech industries, Rockville is one of the nation's best places to live and continues to be one of Maryland's best and most recognizable cities. When you come for a stay in Rockville hotels are filled with lots of wonderful amenities and the accommodations are second to none.

As part of the larger Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Rockville is a great place to come if you would like to visit Washington D.C. but not stay in the nation's capital. Although the city is very cosmopolitan in terms of its people and much of its dining and shopping centers, it has something the nation's capital doesn't have and that's a southern type of hospitality. The short 12 miles from Washington D.C. gives Rockville the added benefit of having a more relaxed pace than the hustle and bustle of the capital city. This is one of the many reasons people live in the city but then work in Washington.

For travelers, when you stay in Rockville hotels are more accommodating and less expensive than staying in Washington D.C. This can be a great alternative if you would like to see Washington D.C. and save some money. Also, due to the city's close proximity to the nation's capital, there are several metro stops that can take you directly into the capital and throughout the metropolitan area, which includes parts of Maryland and northern Virginia. This is another added bonus since visitors can take a ride on the metro to places such as Tyson's Corner in Virginia to visit the Hermes store, or to Bethesda, which is not too far from Rockville, to visit Tiffany's, Cartier and Neiman Marcus.

If you are coming for a visit to Rockville or anywhere else in the metropolitan area during the week, be aware of rush hour times during the mornings and evenings on the metro. Since many people commute into Washington D.C. from the surrounding suburbs of Maryland and Virginia, the trains and buses are usually full during rush hour time, which usually starts at 3 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. If you intend to travel on the metro, try to travel to your destination before those times and enjoy your time at your destination during the rush hour. That way, you can avoid the crowded trains.

Rockville is a great city in terms of quality of life for its residents. It is continually growing and expanding to meet the needs of its residents and offers great amenities you won't necessarily find in the city atmosphere of Washington. There are lovely, quaint hidden parks tucked away in the city's neighborhoods, which offer bike trails and a serene place to relax and enjoy. One of them is the Rockville Millennium Trail. This is a wonderful trail to come for a walk or bike ride. There are also other parks in the area that offer baseball fields and tennis courts, along with recreational facilities. This can be a great way to spend your time in the city. If you are looking for more activities to do in Rockville hotels staff within the area can direct you on what events are occurring and help you find something to fit your needs, even if it might not be within the city limits.

For dining options you can head to downtown Rockville. There you can find a plethora of eateries for your dining needs. From popular restaurant chains to local delights, you can find some great food that will suit whatever your palate desires.

If you would like to go out for a night on the town in Washington D.C., Adam's Morgan area is the local place for those in the metropolitan area. There are a wealth of clubs and lounges that are always brimming with people and great music. The diversity and variety makes it the best option for anyone contemplating a night out.

Maryland is a state filled with wonderful greenery, social diversity and extensive prestige in a wealth of areas. This is especially true in the city of Rockville. With beautiful scenery, impressive people and its close proximity to the nation's capital of Washington D.C., Rockville is an ideal place to visit for a vacation in Maryland or to the Washington Metropolitan area.
